Veterinary medicine is often described through the work that happens in the exam room. There is another side of it that receives far less attention.
This journal is about that side.
It is about leadership, difficult decisions, client relationships, team dynamics, animal welfare, finances, regulations, grief, growth, and the countless small responsibilities that keep a veterinary practice functioning every day.
I have spent much of my life working in veterinary medicine, and over the years I have learned that practice management is rarely neat or predictable. Some days are rewarding. Some are frustrating. Some stay with you long after the doors are locked.
I created this journal as a place to reflect on those experiences honestly.
You will find stories from veterinary practice, thoughts on leadership and management, lessons learned the hard way, and occasional reflections on life beyond the clinic. The goal is not to pretend that I have every answer. It is to examine the work carefully, learn from it, and hopefully offer something useful to others doing work that often goes unseen.
